I really enjoy your pictures of the week. Thank you!

  6. Kevin,

Good of Frankie to send pictures honors to the family and Marine. Thor hmmm, all dog smiles at the camera and big dog slump on honorable Marine Joey; but slam they detect and work when they work. He has a large paw I am so used to my small dog breed. Goggles (from ‘dog pictures of the week’ posts before) to larger eye mask no quams about it they are super dog heros! Thor looks like a Thor big burley and tough. Great pictures I like his marine dog collar and the play on words. ‘He IS the hammer’ lol, right on:).

PS. I have a question regarding the dogs training. They obviously respond to gunfire fine? I imagine that is part of their training to be accustomed to shots fired. I was curious and thinking about that the other day.

    Sincerely,
    Adriana Villafane-Johonson

Thanks Adriana. I loved that name! I hope they are having a wonderful reunion!

There are many techniques and programs for gun fire training. It is normally incorporated into the dog teams’ sustainment training back at home duty station.

We must get or dogs accustomed to it. I imagine civilian police are similar.

    Dear Kevin ….. I am speechless ….

… we cannot thank you enough for your feature on our son, Cpl Joey Taylor and his partner Sgt Thor …. they have always been heroes to us … and now you have shared them in a way, that we never could …. thank you seems so inadequate for your tribute to this dynamic duo …. the homecoming ….. greatest day of my life … beyond my wildest dreams …. and to meet the famous Thor, who is, indeed, larger than life …. a dream come true …. he kept my son and those Marine safe …. I was humbled and honored to meet him and thank him personally … the look on his face, told me he understood my every word and tear, and this special kiss to my face from him, I will remember forever … the whole encounter was priceless and I would not have missed it for the world … I feel ‘whole’ again … my family is home … and nothing will ever be taken for granted … ever again … as he has ‘brothers’, that did not come home … God rest their beautiful souls …. they shall never … ever be forgotten ….

Thank you again …. what a tremendous honor ….

    Sincerely,
    Frankie

Thank you for sharing a bit of your homecoming with us Frankie. I always love the homecoming and dread the departure ceremonies. Every American should have the opportunity to see both.

We all share in your joy knowing that your family is complete. Today on Memorial Day we also mourn those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Semper Fi.

… I could not agree more … the departures are very sad and somber …. but the homecomings are what you dream of …

… there is such a bittersweetness, to it … because, as you stated …. there are some families that never get to be a part of such homecomings … and that … I will never forget …. their sacrifices … I will never forget …

        Yes … Semper Fi
