Everyone copes with the horrors and stresses of war differently. I write. I blog. I tell real stories and I channel what I've seen into novels, the first of which is Paws on the Ground, a novel about the young men and women in Afghanistan who are fighting and dying together and about the dogs that protect them.
I’ve been a United States Soldier since I was 18 years old. The military isn’t just my job, it’s the way I live. I'm a Lieutenant Colonel in the active US Army and have done three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. These are my stories and thoughts on our most trusted federal organization, the United States Military.
Dogs are no longer simply pets. They are family members. Military Working Dogs are no longer equipment. They are fellow Warriors. Dogs are currently on the front lines in the fight against tyranny. They are saving soldiers’ lives every day. I'm responsible for the 2010 Afghanistan military working dog surge that is saving countless lives. These are those dogs' and soldiers' stories.
